What is GHK-Cu?

GHK-Cu 100mg is GHK, a three amino acid peptide found in human blood, bound to copper. A long laboratory record sits beside one small trial on human skin.

GHK, a peptide of just three amino acids, turns up naturally in human blood, saliva and urine. Bound to copper, it becomes GHK-Cu, and skin and cosmetic research accounts for most of what has been written about it.

It appears in plenty of anti-wrinkle products. How far it actually gets into the skin is another matter, and the data there are scarce.

What the 4 PubMed papers cited for GHK-Cu looked at, 2006 to 2025

A 2015 skin review gathered lab and animal work on GHK and collagen, and on GHK in the blood at different ages. A 2018 review covered lab tests of GHK and the activity of human genes.

Studies on people are smaller. After laser work on their skin, 13 people in a 2006 trial used skin products with or without GHK-Cu, and the trial measured redness and wrinkles and asked the users to rate their own skin. Measured redness and wrinkles showed no difference between the products with and without GHK-Cu.

A 2025 review observed that GHK features widely in anti-wrinkle products while the evidence on how well it gets into skin remains thin.

All of this is cosmetic and skin research, and the human part of it is one trial of 13 people.

Reading the GHK-Cu record

GHK-Cu has decades of skin research behind it, and a clear gap between lab and person. Most of the work is in labs and animals; the one human trial cited here was small and followed laser skin work.

That trial measured two kinds of thing: redness and wrinkles, and how the users rated their own skin. A rating is a feeling, not a measurement, and the two belong apart. The 2025 review adds that little is known about how well GHK gets into skin.

Questions about GHK-Cu

What is the difference between GHK-Cu and AHK-Cu?

Both are three amino acid peptides bound to copper. GHK-Cu has more research, including one small trial in people; AHK-Cu, next in the list, has a single lab study on hair.

What did the GHK-Cu laser trial compare?

Skin products with and without GHK-Cu, used by 13 people after laser skin work in 2006, measuring redness and wrinkles, which showed no difference between the two.

Where is GHK found in the body?

In human blood, saliva and urine.
