What is TB-500?
TB-500 10mg copies a seven amino acid stretch of a natural protein. Most of the research concerns the whole protein rather than this short copy.
The protein is thymosin beta-4, 43 amino acids long and present in most human cells. A short section of it, LKKTETQ, is tied to the way cells move. TB-500 is a man-made version of that section with an acetyl group attached at one end.
The distinction matters. A study of the whole protein is not a study of TB-500, so each note below names the molecule that was actually used.
What the 5 PubMed papers cited for TB-500 looked at, 2012 to 2025
Papers on TB-500 itself are few. In 2012, a racing laboratory designed a test to detect it in horse blood and urine, since it had been misused in horse racing.
In a 2025 animal study of burned eye surfaces, the TB-500 sequence was tested inside a gel, and the team followed how the surface repaired.
Everything else is about the full protein. Nine people with severe dry eye took part in a small 2015 trial of thymosin beta-4 against placebo, with eye discomfort among the measures. A 2018 review covered animal work on the full protein and the growth of new blood vessels in the heart.
When TB-500 products sold online were checked in a lab, in a study published in 2023, the contents did not always match the label. Results for thymosin beta-4 are not TB-500 results.

Reading the TB-500 record
The first thing to get right with TB-500 is that thymosin beta-4 research is not its own. The full protein has a trial in dry eye and a body of heart research in animals. TB-500 has a horse doping test and one animal study of an eye gel.
A second point concerns what is in a vial. The lab check of products sold online found contents that did not always match the label. That is a reason to ask questions, whatever the source.
